FAQs

Dancecode is a leading dance and performing arts school in Milton Keynes. We offer classes in Contemporary, Street Dance, Jazz, Musical Theatre and Acro Dance for all levels.

See below to learn more about our program and classes.

  • Do you offer trial classes?
Yes, we offer free trial classes for new students for a whole week! It's a great opportunity to try out a class before committing to a full term.
  • What age groups do you cater for?
We offer dance classes for students from as young as 3 years old to adults.
  • What dance styles do you teach?
We offer a wide range of dance styles, including Street Dance, Jazz, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Acro-Dance, Mini Movers and Adult Dance Fitness. Check the Class Timetable page for our full schedule.
  • How do I enrol my child in your dance school?
Please enrol through our booking system or contact our office for assistance with the registration process.
  • What should I wear to class?
Our students are required to come to class in Dancecode uniform. For trial dance lessons we recommend that you wear clothes that allow comfortable movement. After your trial, once you have enrolled into the class, please visit our Shop Page to access the uniform website. The uniform must be accompanied with comfortable trousers or shorts and appropriate dance shoes will need to be worn for the style you are learning, or bare feet.
  • How much are the classes?
Our class fees may vary depending on the class duration and level. After your first free trial, and once you have enrolled with us. The termly fee will be sent to you via invoice. This will need to be paid at the start of the new term (this fee can be split into monthly payments upon request). For more information, please check out our Terms & Conditions.
  • Can my child join the school at any time, or should I wait until a new term starts to register?
Students can register at any time during the term, and fees for that term will be adjusted accordingly. However please be mindful that the majority of students join at the start of term, and this really is the best time in order to monitor progression and build confidence. But we do not want students to have to wait what could be several weeks before joining us, so please feel free to get in touch if we are half-way through a term.
  • Can I watch my child's lesson?
Families are usually welcome to view the childrens' progress on the last lesson of each term. For our Mini Movers, a maximum of 2 family members are able to watch the last 5 minutes of class every week. Please bear in mind that this may differ if we are preparing for a show - we don’t want to spoil the surprise!
  • Do I need previous dance experience to join your classes?
No, all levels of experience are welcome! Our classes are designed to accommodate Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced dancers. If you are unsure, please feel free to contact us.
  • Are your instructors qualified and experienced?
Yes, our teachers are highly trained professionals with extensive experience in their respective dance styles. We are also fully insured and hold DBS certificates.
  • Do you follow term dates?
Yes. Our term dates follow the dates provided by MK Council, unless informed otherwise. We do take half term breaks to ensure the children have the opportunity to rest. Members are encouraged to check their emails as well as our social media pages for reminders of opening and closing dates.
  • Is there a performance or show at the end of the year?
Yes, we host an annual performance at Stantonbury Theatre where each class will showcase their skills and progress. It’s a highly anticipated event in the Dancecode calendar!
  • Are there any performance or costume fees?
There may be additional fees associated with events including deposits, costume fees, and additional practice classes. But we will always give plenty of notice and pride ourselves on fair pricing.
  • Do you host any other events throughout the year?
Yes, each year we host a variety of events for our members. Events include Halloween parties, Valentines parties (for parents to have a well deserved night off!), as well as the Christmas Awards Night and Disco where we celebrate our students together with their families.
  • Do you offer private lessons?
Yes, we offer private lessons for anyone seeking a more personalised class. Whether it’s for couples looking to create their ‘first dance’ for their wedding, or a dancer looking to develop a skill. Get in touch and we will be able to help you.
  • Do you offer birthday parties?
Yes, we would love to help you host an amazing party for your child. With games, music and of course - lots of dancing! Please contact us for more information.
  • Do you have dance classes during the school holidays?
Each year we host a Summer Dance Intensive Workshop, booking guest teachers who are celebrated in their field of expertise. There are occasions when we hold other workshops during holidays and half terms on an adhoc basis. Keep an eye on our social media pages for more details!
